Your money, your account.

UnitTally connects to Stripe with Stripe Connect Standard. Every card payment is charged on your organization’s own Stripe account.

  • We never hold funds. Payouts go straight to your connected bank account.
  • You stay in control. You own your Stripe login, statements and refund permissions.
  • U.S. groups only. Online card payments need a U.S. bank account; cash-and-check groups don’t need one.

Fees with no surprises.

One capped UnitTally fee per card sale, separate from Stripe’s processing fee. Nothing is pushed onto your supporters by default.

  • No tip prompts. We never ask your supporters to tip the software at checkout.
  • Hard caps on big sales. $20 on Free, $10 on Plus, $5 on Pro. Stripe’s processing fee is separate.
  • “Cover the fees” is disclosed. The optional checkbox is off by default and shows an itemized breakdown, with Stripe’s fee estimated, before paying. Any gap between the estimate and Stripe’s real fee settles to your group, not to us.
  • We keep our fee on refunds. A refund, even a full one, returns the item prices but not our fee. On a full refund, you decide whether to also refund the fees the buyer covered. Whether Stripe returns any of its processing fee depends on Stripe’s terms.

Kids’ privacy, by design.

UnitTally is built to be COPPA-conscious, protecting members under 13 who help with group fundraisers.

  • No public profiles. We don’t publish searchable profiles, photos or full names of kids.
  • Private seller links. Each seller shares a private link that tracks credit without showing who they are.
  • Parents stay in charge. For younger kids, the invite goes to a parent or guardian, who manages the account. The child never signs up alone.

Your records, yours to keep.

Export everything anytime. Live records are never auto-deleted, so you can meet your own IRS recordkeeping obligations.

  • Sensitive fields are encrypted. Buyer contact details, member emails and your EIN are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, with key rotation.
  • CSV exports anytime. Orders, line items, your supporter list and the activity log.
  • IRS-ready donation receipts. Groups that mark themselves tax-exempt get IRS Pub 1771 language on donation receipts, with product purchases itemized as non-deductible.
