Keep more of what your scout troop raises.
Wreath, popcorn, and cookie drives shouldn't lose 20% to a platform — run them on capped per-transaction fees, and $0 on cash and checks. Built for Cub packs, Scouts BSA troops, and Girl Scout troops, with youth privacy protected.
What UnitTally does for scout troop fundraising
No more spreadsheet bookkeeping
Manual bookkeeping of who sold which wreath or box of popcorn eats hours of the volunteer treasurer's time. UnitTally gives each member a private link, and sales credit to them as orders come in.
Child-safe by design
Scout units must protect child privacy. We never publish child directories, rosters, or photos online. Parents remain the single point of contact — a COPPA-conscious approach to youth data.
Free cash & check recording
Many chartered units run cash-only or delay online processing setups. UnitTally lets you run cash and check-only campaigns for a $0 platform fee, keeping your books fully reconciled from day one.
How a sale runs on UnitTally
Open the product sale
Set up your wreath, popcorn, or cookie catalog. Each scout is assigned a private tracking link, so orders placed through it are attributed to that scout automatically — no by-hand tally sheet.
Sell online and door to door
Parents share the scout's link with family and friends for online orders. Door-to-door cash and check sales get recorded against the same scout at a $0 platform fee, so every sale counts toward their total.
Collect at meetings
Record cash and check handoffs as scouts turn them in at pack or troop meetings. Each scout's balance is derived automatically, so you always know who has settled up.
Deliver and reconcile
Sort the fulfillment list by scout, mark orders delivered in bulk, and export a CSV for your chartered organization's records — the whole sale reconciled in one place.
Every wreath, popcorn tin, and cash envelope reconciles in one ledger, backed by a full append-only audit trail you can hand to your chartered organization at the end of the sale.
The wreath sale
Suppose your scout troop runs an annual winter holiday wreath sale with products averaging $30.00 each. A take-rate platform charging 20% would take $6.00 from every wreath sold.
With UnitTally's capped per-transaction fee (on our Free plan), your group keeps $27.78 after Stripe's standard card processing. That is an extra $3.78 kept in your troop equipment fund on every wreath. For a troop selling 300 wreaths, that adds up fast.
| Platform | Fee | Your Org Keeps |
|---|---|---|
| 20% platform | $6.00 | $24.00 |
| UnitTally Free plan (card + Stripe) | $2.22* | $27.78 |
| UnitTally Free plan (cash/check) | $0.00 | $30.00 |
Frequently asked questions
Whose EIN do we use to set up the bank connection?
It depends on how your unit is registered. A Scouting America (BSA) unit chartered to an organization uses that organization's EIN with permission, a unit registered directly to the council uses the council's, and a unit registered as a parents' or citizens' group applies for its own. Girl Scout troops use their local council's EIN. Never use a volunteer's personal Social Security number.
Can we run a manual cash-only campaign without a bank account?
Yes. You can use UnitTally's ledger in manual mode to track cash and check sales by scout for a $0 platform fee, with no payment processor or bank connection required.
How do scouts track their individual popcorn or wreath sales?
Each scout is assigned a private tracking ID. Parents share this link with friends and family, and any orders placed through it are automatically attributed to that scout in your dashboard.
