- "Cover the fees" checkoutStorefront checkout includes an optional, off-by-default checkbox that lets supporters cover both UnitTally's platform fee and an estimate of Stripe's processing fee on top of the listed price, so more of it reaches your unit.

Why "cover the fees" is an estimate, not a promise
When a supporter checks "Cover the fees," UnitTally adds its own platform fee plus an estimate of Stripe's processing fee, calculated from Stripe's published rates (2.9% + 30¢ standard, 2.2% + 30¢ for verified 501(c)(3) nonprofits). Stripe's actual fee depends on the card — Amex, international, and some business cards cost more — so on a given order your group may net a few cents above or below the exact listed price, usually within pennies on standard cards. Checkout shows the exact itemized breakdown (subtotal, platform fee, estimated processing fee, total) before the supporter pays, and the same breakdown repeats on the confirmation and receipt. UnitTally never keeps more than its disclosed platform fee — the covered amount rides through Stripe to your own connected account, and any gap between the estimate and Stripe's actual fee settles to your group, not to UnitTally.
