A 20% platform$15,000.00

A platform taking 20% would keep $3,000.00 of your card orders. This assumes it also records your 100 cash and check orders for free, as UnitTally does. If it charges for those or can’t record them, its real cost is higher.

  • Card math uses Stripe’s standard rate of about 2.9% + 30¢. Verified 501(c)(3) nonprofits often qualify for about 2.2% + 30¢, so your take-home may be a bit higher. Check your actual rate with Stripe.
  • Stripe’s processing fee is charged by Stripe and isn’t UnitTally revenue.
  • The other platform’s fee is its total take. If it also charges card processing, its real cost is higher.
  • Cash and check orders carry $0 in platform and processing fees on every plan.
  • Platform fees are capped per sale: $20 on Free, $10 on Plus, $5 on Pro.
  • The receipt counts one month of Plus ($15/mo, or $12/mo billed annually) or Pro ($80/mo, or $64/mo billed annually) at the monthly price.

How fundraiser fees actually work.

Most platforms cost your group in one of three ways. Here’s how they compare with UnitTally.

  • Take-rate

    A percentage of every sale

Often 20% to 30%, so a bigger fundraiser costs more.

  • Flat-fee

    A flat rate per transaction

Often about 3% and uncapped, so big sales still pay the full rate.

  • Zero-fee

    Free to your group

Funded by prompting your supporters to add a tip at checkout.

  • UnitTally

    One capped, disclosed fee

2.5% + 30¢ on Free, never more than $20 a sale, and never a tip prompt.

Online card sales carry two costs: Stripe’s processing fee, charged by Stripe, and UnitTally’s capped platform fee. Cash and check orders you record yourself carry no fee at all. See the full breakdown on pricing, or how money reaches your account on trust and security.
